Angel Crisps
From the kitchen of Marie E. Rand
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 cup shortening
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
water for dipping
sugar for dipping
Cream shortening, sugars, vanilla and egg. Add dry ingredients. Roll in walnut size balls. Dip top in water, then in sugar. Place sugar side up. Dent top with finger.
Bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes or until edges are golden brown. Put on cooling racks until cool. Store in an air tight container.
