Notes

I think the notes people include in their recipes make them more personal. If I write a note myself about a recipe, it will always be written in purple.

BUTTERSCOTCH COOKIES

MOTHER'S BUTTERSCOTCH COOKIES

4 c. brown sugar
4 eggs
1 c. butter and lard (half each)
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. soda (scant)
7 c. flour
2 tsp. vanilla

Roll sugar and add unbeaten eggs, butter and salt. Stir thoroughly. Sift dry ingredients. Add to wet.

Put in loaves 4-inches wide and 1-inch thick.

Let stand overnight in cool place and cut in 1/8-inch slices. Bake on greased sheets at 350 degrees.

This recipe was my mother's and goes back to at least 1926.
