I think the notes people include in their recipes make them more personal. If I write a note myself about a recipe, it will always be written in purple.

DROP DOUGHNUTS

DROP DOUGHNUTS (KH)


4 Eggs
3 c All-purpose flour
1 c Buttermilk
1 1/2 ts Baking powder
2 ts Vanilla extract
Cooking oil for deep frying
1 t Grated lemon or orange peel

(opt)
Honey
Cinnamon

Beat eggs; stir in buttermilk, vanilla extract, and grated peel.
Combine flour and baking powder. Stir into the egg mixture. Cover with a cloth. Let stand at room temperature for 1 hour. In a deep fryer, heat oil to 375 F. Drop batter by the tablespoon. Cook 4 minutes, or until doughnuts are golden brown. Drain on paper towels.

Drizzle with honey and sprinkle with cinnamon. Serve hot.

Note: Batter keeps well in the refrigerator. Bring to room temperature before cooking.
